Investopia is a mobile-first concept designed to help beginner investors explore their investment preferences before speaking with an advisor. It's a lightweight, interactive experience that makes abstract financial preferences feel tangible and personal without relying on jargon or numbers.
Developed as a sales pitch for financial institutions, the concept targets banks and advisory firms looking to improve client onboarding.
Most investment tools are built for people who already know what they're doing. They're cold, technical, and overwhelming for beginners who don't know what to ask or where to begin. This project explores how to make that first step more intuitive and approachable.
Instead of asking "What's your risk tolerance?", Investopia invites users to design a city. Each decision maps to a core investment dimension:
The interface is divided into two parts: the evolving cityscape appears on the left, while the right side houses the interactive question. Each screen includes a clear prompt, a slider for input, and an optional explanation for users who want to understand the logic behind the metaphor.
As users adjust their answers, the city updates in real time—buildings rise and fall, architecture shifts in style, greenery expands or contracts, and lighting adjusts to reflect their choices. This makes abstract investment preferences visually tangible.
Once complete, users receive a unique investor profile along with a snapshot of their personalized city. This result can be saved or shared with an advisor, giving beginners a clear starting point for more focused, productive conversations.
